Secondary Technical School & Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Recognised by Barclays

Secondary Technical School and Abu Dhabi Polytechnic was recognised by Barclays for their on-going commitment to community development, education and extracurricular initiatives in the UAE.

During the recognition ceremony hosted at the premises of Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Barclays showcased the Barclays Premier League trophy where over 600 students were provided the opportunity to participate in sports activities and football competitions across the campus.

The Barclays Premier League Trophy in Abu Dhabi is a part of a Middle East tour that includes Dubai and Qatar organised by Barclays as part of its global ‘Thank you’ campaign, aiming to thank fans, community heroes and players for upholding the true values of football, including respect, integrity and passion for the game. To thank fans Barclays has also produced a global film that shows fans around the world supporting their favourite teams that can be viewed on You Tube*

Hosting the Barclays Premier League Trophy, H.E Eng. Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Director General of The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), said, “We are delighted to receive this recognition from Barclays and having the opportunity to display the Barclays Premier League Trophy at our institute. The trophy epitomises Passion, Commitment and succeeding against odds and these are Values we work to instil in our students to help them succeed. We are committed to ensuring that our students’ success extends beyond the classroom and this trophy is a grand symbol of such triumph. Many football fans dream of holding this trophy aloft to cheers of adoring crowds. It’s a great pleasure to offer this opportunity to our students who are ardent football fans.”

Haidar Hamoud, Head of Wealth and Investment Management for Barclays in the UAE and Oman, said: “We would like to congratulate the entire team at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic for their hard work in making a difference in the lives of young fans. The Barclays Premier League is an institution in its own right and it’s a real privilege for us to have the trophy with us today as it underlines our appreciation of the work being done by Abu Dhabi Polytechnic.”

The institute encourages students to pursue sports education and as part of its extramural activities, the Barclays Premier League trophy was displayed at the institute attended by students and faculty. The event forms part of the Barclays Trophy Tour, which will take the trophy across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha.
